Amazon and Gather Writing Contests

Whew! I have novels entered in both the Amazon and the Gather/Borders writing contests. Sometime to fixate on while I'm trying to do cards, shopping and all the holiday stuff. Some writers were racing to finish or polish their writing before submitting it. I had the misfortune/fortune to have two polished unpublished novels living on my hard drive. The books will be undergoing the acid test. In another few weeks, I'll have three polished, unpublished novels. Festival Madness is undergoing it's 9th (or thereabouts draft). Mostly, I am just tweaking the beginning. Something is still a bit off about it, but I have another author critiquing it, and maybe he will have some insights. After a while, one just becomes blind to the merits/faults of one's writing. Like after 7 or 8 drafts.

My new web site has been coming along so quickly that I'll have to stop and write more "content" which is not a bad thing. What is my only talent is for technology and not for fiction? How crappy would that be?

In the meantime, the California novel is stalled. I keep telling myself "after this weekend," and hope that's true. Still thinking about the story and wondering how compelling it is. I never wondered that before starting a novel. Just figured I would figure out a way to make it compelling. Hubris? Confidence? Foolishness?

Dunno. Bring on the clue gun.
